Refurbished 27-inch iMacs hit the Apple store, thin profiles start at $1,529
Lusting after Apple’s giant, yet shockingly thin 27-inch iMac? The object of your desire just got a little cheaper — well, as long as you don’t mind refurbished goods. The extra large all-in-one is the latest Apple product to hit the company’s certified refurbished store, offering as much as $270 the product’s regular price. The iMac’s 2.9GHz Core i5 base model can be had for $1,529, replete with 8GB of RAM, a 1TB HDD and that luxuriously large 2560 x 1440 display. Apple is also offering refurbished versions of the 3.2Ghz model for $1,699 and 3.4GHz Core i7 rigs for $1,869 and $2,199, depending on the configuration. As always, Cupertino promises that the machines have gone through a rigorous restoration process, but offers a included one-year warranty to put the concerns of cautious buyers to rest. Mosey on over to the source link to consider your savings. Still too rich for your blood? Well, there is a 21-inch model, too.

Ask Engadget: What’s the best way to store my media collection?
We know you’ve got questions, and if you’re brave enough to ask the world for answers, then here’s the outlet to do so. This week’s Ask Engadget inquiry is from Michael, who is suffering from a storage crunch. If you’re looking to ask one of your own, drop us a line at ask [at] engadget [dawt] com.
“I’m a bargain-basement kinda guy, and I’ve picked up lots of DVDs cheaply during the sale season(s). I was planning to rip my collection with Handbrake so I could watch them on my iPad, but my 1TB HDD is already close to being maxed out! Is there a better solution out there than just buying a 2TB HDD now, waiting a year and buying a 3TB HDD when the prices come down? Is there a cheap RAID-style system that plays nicely with my iTunes? Please help!”
- You can pick up a standalone 3TB external HDD for between $150 and $200,
- Or you could take the leap and set up an iTunes home server, perhaps using the cheapest Synology DiskStation, which is $200 plus the cost of the drives. That way you can get a 4TB iTunes server for just under $400.
- You could also snag a Drobo that’ll give you the same storage options with significantly increased expandability, up to 16TB in the future.
That said, perhaps our friendly readers know a way to tame this man’s ever growing media collection, so if you’ve already set up your own system, why not share your knowledge in the comments below?

Polka Dot Patterns Defining New Louis Vuitton Concept Store in London

With an extravagant, flashy design, this new Louis Vuitton Concept Store at Selfridges in London is the result of the collaboration between the brand and Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. Characterized by flashy colors and polka dot patterns, the overall design of the store will definitely appeal to the Louis Vuitton enthusiasts. The exhibited materials, bags and shoes are all a part of the dot-inspired concept and are well emphasized with the help of a visually powerful lighting scheme. Perforated giant lamps hang over the display tables, which are in tune with the red&white floor and walls. According to the official press release, the store features ”twenty four Selfridges display windows dedicated to the Vuitton & Kusama Collection and inside visitors are instructed to follow the red dots along the shop floor leading to the store and a life size, polka dot-clad model of Kusama herself”. Louis Vuitton & Kusama concept store at Selfridges London will remain open until 1 October.

Mozilla pulls Firefox Home from the iOS App Store, posts source code to GitHub
iOS users keen on Mozilla’s Firefox Home will have to find another browser syncing solution: the application has been retired. The app worked in conjunction with Firefox Sync, and was designed to give users access to their desktop history, open tabs and bookmarks on the go. Mozilla says the project “provided valuable insight and experience with the platform,” but ultimately decided its resources were better focused elsewhere. All isn’t lost, however — the company is making the source available on GitHub, encouraging users to tinker with the iOS Sync client Firefox Home was built on. Feel free to swim in the code yourself at the source link below.

PSA: Galaxy Nexus HSPA+ up for sale again at Google Play store, ships in ’2-3 weeks’
And just like that it’s back. Following a yesterday’s temporary stay of the ban on Google’s HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus by Judge Koh, the soon-to-be Jelly Bean-loaded device is again up for sale at the Play store — and a bit earlier than expected. If you’ll recall, Google notes that Android 4.1 apparently mitigates the issues brought up within the dispute by Apple, which has until July 12th to issue a response on the matter. Orders are slated to ship in “two to three weeks,” so we’d suggest you grab one quick while it’s fresh and tasty to ensure your taste buds get the latest Android sugar fix.
