Samsung Series 9 Premium with Intel Core i7 and 1080p display available now for $1,400
Last month, Samsung outed an update to the 13-inch Series 9 that saw its 1,600 x 900 LCD display replaced with the glory of full 1080p. And starting today, that Windows 8 Ultrabook is going on sale with pretty much the same internal configuration it had in a previous, less Premium life — save for the 2GHz Core i7 inside. For a cool $1,400, you’re looking at 4GB of RAM, an integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU, WiFi a/b/g/n and a 128GB SSD all neatly packed into an aluminum unibody design. So, you can do your eyes a favor (and your wallet some significant damage) by trading up now. Or stick with what you’ve got. Don’t worry, if they don’t ask, you don’t have to tell Intel.

Roots Premium Spirits
Branding and packaging design for Roots – a range of premium spirits ”The branding consists of a strong, yet organic and versatile logo that transforms each time into a unique shape, without losing the brand’s identity, to convey the essence of the basic ingredient: a hexagon for the honey-based “Rakomelo”, a cross for the monastic “Herb Spirit”, a circle for the cinnamon-based “Tentura” and a rhombus for the “Mastiha”.”

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 to receive Android 4.1 with Premium Suite (video)
Samsung has already begun delivery of Android 4.1 for the Galaxy Note 10.1 in some parts of the world, but in a move that’ll no doubt add to the anticipation, the company has now revealed Premium Suite as an accompaniment to the OS upgrade. Along with Jelly Bean, users can expect greater Multi Window functionality, which brings the ability to open up to 16 apps at a time, each which can be moved, resized and pinned to remain on top. Samsung’s Air View is also incorporated within Premium Suite, which allows users to preview appointments, emails, video and the like by hovering the S Pen above the screen. Not to stop there, Samsung is also upping the ante with new additions such as Easy Clip, Quick Command, Photo Note, Paper Artist and an enhanced S Note app. No definitive timeline is known for Samsung’s rollout of Premium Suite and Android 4.1, although it’s now clear that “soon” can’t come quickly enough. In the meantime, be sure to hop the break to preview all the new features that are on deck.

Premium Effects to the nth Degree

Launched in 2006, n — yup, just “n” — is a DTH (direct to home) satellite television platform, a lá DirecTV, in Poland, offering nearly 100 channels from around the world, over 20 Polish language channels and a new range of premium channels called nPremium HD. The package includes four channels covering the latest Hollywood movies, sporting events, documentaries, and more, as well as a fifth on-demand channel. Warsaw, Poland-based mamastudio designed the nPremium HD on- and off-air look, building on top of the existing n logo.
The nPremium HD brand identity is dynamic and modern. The various elements provide a diverse and dynamic feel that refer to the rich and varied programming of the channels. Rich colors and smooth color transitions energize. We wanted the viewer, at first glance of the new visuals, to experience the excitement, energy and joy that comes from watching quality television.
The nPremium HD logo, in addition to the primary version, also operates in several modified versions giving additional creative possibilities for animations of the logo and identity elements. The logo is “alive”, making it stand out and easy remember. The primary version of the nPremium HD logo is spacious and three-dimensional. It is a direct reference to the depth of image, the richness of content and the overall quality of HD television. It is also a nod to the future of 3D television.
— mamastudio project description

On-air look.
There is nothing subtle about this identity. It very clearly is about making a splash and looking cutting-edge and contemporary and it uses all the shades in the rainbow and twists and turns of threedimensionality to achieve that. It’s easy to turn to our default reaction on these executions and discard it. But if you put yourself at the end of that spectrum, away from the Nikes and Targets and IBMs, this is a fairly interesting solution. The logo itself is awkward looking in its static form but in its main use, animated on television, it looks pretty great. Of the animations shown, most have that riding-a-rollercoaster effect where you are meant to feel the twists and turns, which is fine, but the better effect is when the logo comes in full view and gently floats as it comes into its full form. The tubes serve as a good way of framing information too. Not necessarily pretty or elegant but a proper extension of the concept. Overall, it’s not something I would call my favorite, but in the genre it exists on, it’s one of the nicer ones.

Premium Collection of Kitchens and Wardrobes by Henrique Steyer

Designed by architect Henrique Steyer, from Albus Design for Brazilian furniture manufacturer Florense, the Charm Collection is a new premium line of kitchens and wardrobes. The collection is said to take inspiration from the past, highlighting the attention to detail and fine woodwork, a blend of modern products based on old traditions. Several product lines were created, each one based on subjects that derive their histories from the pas: “I would like to see the future, designed based on my background.Going back is not for everyone, but it is worth a lot. It is worth it, even for a minute, to feel peaceful again. To predict the future, we study the past, reconstructing the present. We study without nostalgia or melancholy, but with the wisdom about bringing back to the current day all that was beautiful and has not been lost“. How do you appreciate this classic take on kitchens and wardrobes? [Photography by Federico Cedrone]

Samsung Galaxy Tab spreads wings, flies to premium seats on American Airlines
Move on over, Delta. The 200 iPads at your JFK terminal may entertain some folks waiting to board, but before the years out, American Airlines will start switching out 6,000 in-flight entertainment systems with Samsung 10.1-inch Galaxy Tabs. Sammy will be customizing the Honeycomb slates with flight related “features” including AA’s streaming service mentioned last month, and possibly even adding “expanded memory” for the devices — no word on how, though. Panasonic’s console has some competition it seems. It’s notable that these will only be available in “premium cabins” on a handful of long-distance routes, and unless you’re flying in a 767-200, WiFi access — a separate purchase, by the way — may not be available. We’ve embedded some PR with the details for all you jet-setting tablet enthusiasts after the break.
