Cozy and Spacious Loft in Utah Enriched by Artistic Details

Welcome to a spacious apartment enriched with striking modern details in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. Ebony oak floors are perfectly opposed by pristine, 18-foot ceilings throughout the wide open living space. A 50-foot wall of windows literally drenches the ivory walls and pillars with light. The impressive master suite overlooks the living space via a wall of glass. Enjoy the four seasons from one of the coziest spots thinkable (the high-end Poliform bed falls in line with most of the other furnishings throughout), or pull the remote-controlled shades.

The Broadway Lofts, built originally in 1898 as McDonald’s Chocolate Factory, and famous for bold, gallery-ready walls of concrete and brick, are an art appreciator’s dream. Current owner being no exception, impressive pieces are hung and lit perfectly throughout [we love the Gerard Bourgeois nude], all of which are available for purchase. The kitchen is skillfully ripe for hosting, given the space, elite cooking tools, and appliances from GE and Bosch. An occupant with an eye toward entertaining would be a poetic match — a recent fund raiser testifies to the space’s potential to host any soirée, fête, ball, bash, or function.[Photos and information provided via e-mail by Cityhome Colective]

Patterns and Colors Collide in Vivid New York Loft

When fascinating patterns and colors collide, inspiration is born. With extensive experience in the design field, well-known designer Karim Rashid strikes again. His bold works are once again showcased in this colorful apartment in New York City. Three spacious rooms located at the crossroads of Chelsea and the West Village’s meatpacking district were designed and furnished by the designer, composing an extravagant interior design focusing on matching patterns, textures and colors. Spreading over almost 2,000 square feet, the loft gathers expressive details under the 12′ ceilings. Modern furniture part of Karim’s portfolio adorned the white rooms, creating a unique display of comfortable spaces and demanding undivided attention. Glossy floors in the kitchen reflect natural light filtered through tall windows and patterned space separators alongside a pink rug define the vivacious living space. Already rented, the fascinating space seen on Afflante remains as an inspiration source for those who love vivid colors and bold patterns.

Wood-Cladded Bedroom Design Integrated in Original Californian Loft

Homeowners and designers Lynda and Peter Benoit(of Melander Architects) embarked on the challenging task of remodeling a poorly planned, 1,100 square-feet loft situated in a former steam engine factory in Emeryville, California. The focal point and one of the most creative additions of the new home is Peter’s masterwork: “a completely customized 16-by-17-by-10-foot wooden box that accommodates a bookcase on the outside, a bedroom on the inside, and a dressing-room mezzanine above“. Access in the “hidden chamber” is ensured by a lateral stairway, perfectly integrated in the overall design. This box-within-a box project captured our attention and made us want to search for further details. You can observe the multi-functional addition from various standing points in the photos below and judge for yourself if this unusual bedroom is practical or on the contrary, takes up too much space.

Circular Skylights Shining Light In Reconstructed Bratislava Loft

Residential spaces come in many shapes and sizes – from large customized houses to small and challenging apartments. This Loft in Bratislava is somewhere in between – it measures 108 square meters of interior space and 151 square meters of terrace area. Designed by Prague-based by Atelier SAD, the loft is perched on the 12th floor of a 1998 multi-functional building in Slovakia’s capital. The designers had the challenging task of reconstructing the apartment in such a way that both the terrace and the interior spaces could be used to their full potential.

The living space was enlarged and connected to the terrace by re-positioning the kitchen area and making changes wherever they were needed – rearranging the non-bearing walls or covering the entire surface with grey wax-treated ash floors. Sliding walls connect the interiors to the covered terrace, which can be used any time of the year. Finished off with a lightweight roof pierced by three circular skylights, this Bratislava Loft gained its shine again thanks to Atelier SAD.

Loft Apartment by 2B Group
Slava Balbek of 2B Group has sent us images of a top floor apartment they have designed in
Kiev, Ukraine.
.
Description from the designers:
Working on the Project we tried to prove to Client and to ourselves that concrete could be warm, wood could be smooth and metal could be soft. The project, that we had to deal with, was a 3-level penthouse with total space of 380m2 , located in the heart of the city on Dnieper river. Third floor of the apartment was an open terrace facing a Kyiv left bank panorama on a south-east with total space of 250 m2. Client request was simple: nothing but eco-friendly materials, open space and high quality life for a young man with a 7 year old child. Although, client chose to express his stylistic preferences by referring to a musical composition. Nothing plastic, artificial or shining. Nothing excessive. As ceiling lighting does not require a plastic plafond and ventilation box – a diffuser. You just hide them behind the wooden batten. You do not need a chandelier, you just fill the room with light by directing a strong light flow right on to the ceiling and you get it soft and diffused. In this project you will not find moldings on a ceiling, plastic ventilation ramps, halogen blocks or multilevel gypsum panels. Instead, we would like to please you with open concrete, lack of footstalls and simple solutions to complex tasks. The development of the general concept, project design, and engineering process until construction took one year. High speed construction process took another year and a half. And taking into account that every day a person gets more mature and experienced, every day the project underwent improvement and adaptation.
-Stears, lading to the terrace have been made of ordinary metal channels, primed and painted with strong outdoor paint
-Camouflaged entrance to the child’s room has been made of sawn heat pine.
-Lowering the amount of a child block is designed to highlight the effect of matching of zones that differ in materials and forms
-Given that the metal stairs is a single welded construction, we faced a challenge to ensure its accurate matching with parquet on different floors.
-For child’s room, we decided to offer a multifunctionale area as a single construction, including game, training and sleeping areas. The framework itself is made of a double tube and wound up on the wall and floor, to strengthen the base of console levels.
-For the kitchen we refused to use standard Bulthaup decorative panels, replacing it with a conventional brick. But to make it work, we had to lay a brick wall in two phases – before and after the installation of the kitchen. In order not to fit the size of the kitchen section of brick masonry, we developed a sketch for laying the bricks one by one.
-To make our container of exactly size as we required, we could not order the original container and had to produse it individually. The inside of the container is made of waterproof plywood and it serves as a guest bathroom and a cloakroom.
-Recreation pavilion on the terrace constructively made of a wooden frame and inside made of of the painted sheets of medium density fibreboard
