Opalum’s Flow 1010 TV speakers sport ‘minimalist floating’ design, get priced at £1,649
We’ve certainly encountered a fair share of interesting speakers in our time, albeit most of them have had a different focus than Opalum’s new Flow 1010s. How so? It’s simple, really: these aren’t going to be known for their Bluetooth capabilities, oddly-shaped design or even being portable. Instead, Opalum’s hoping to take the living room by surprise with its “floating” aesthetics and patented Actisonic and Actiline digital audio tech — which, apparently, has taken decades of academic research to accomplish and, in the end, offers reverse filtering algorithms alongside state-of-the-art aluminum drivers that allow the Flow 1010 to have “control of the air movement.” Now don’t let the minimalist looks fool you into thinking these will come cheap, as the starting price point is a whopping £1,649 (around $2,700) — though, if it makes it any better, that does take into account an included “hub” and an RF touch remote. Be sure to read over the PR below, where you can find out where’s the nearest place to snag a set of Flow 1010 speakers for yourself.

Surrealistic Furniture Unit Inspired by an Incessant Flow: Volna Table

We ran across this original table design that draws attention due to its futuristic shape and daring color palette. Created by Turkish design firm Nüvist, Volna Table defies traditional forms. Its appearance pays tribute to irregularity and seems to be inspired by the continuous movement of matter. According to the project developers, “it was very important to create soft and serene experience in the tangible and the visual sense for this type of table design. The new technologies and the modern materials were the main ingredients for the creation and these provide us to design an unbroken continuous form. In this way, Volna Table has met both the functionality and a unique elegance look and it has been shaped like a wave and features an incessant flow.” The design comes in a variety of models and colors, making this surrealistic table easy to integrate in a variety of contemporary offices. Do you find it appealing or too extravagant?

Let the Holiday Spirit Flow: Exquisite Wine Decanters from Etienne Meneau
Here’s an idea that should make you enjoy your holidays to the fullest. Bordeaux based sculptur Etienne Meneau created the Strange Carafes collection in order to demonstrate “how wine becomes modern”. An unusual approach to wine decanters, his designs combine art with functionality and induce their viewers’ astonishment. Here is a statement from the designer: “My work turns around geometry and nature, I love to put some flesh on geometrical shapes… that’s why vegetal life interests me… It is a pure living geometry and algebra (for example the Carafe N°6 is inspired by a branch of fig tree)...” Whether they resemble “big hearts”, tree branches or blood vessels, these incredible looking decanters can transform a wine tasting gathering into a classy and unforgettable experience. The prices for these spectacular items is no less dramatic, going up to 2500 euros for one design. Looking forward to your impressions on these “sculptures for the connoisseurs”.
