Wood Love: Atmosphere of Unity Recreated in an Enchanting Apartment in Italy

You are about to enter a place dedicated entirely to wood. An enchanting apartment adorned with wooden details, making everything look cozy, managed to make an impression on us! With its simplicity and dedication towards smooth details, this cushy spot, designed by the Italian, Gianluca Fanetti, in Campodolcino ( a small municipality in the region of Lombardy, near Switzerland) is beautiful, elegant and most of all, romantic. A fireplace welcomes you in the living room. The landscape is absolutely amazing, especially in winter time.

This is one of those apartments that make you think of ski holidays. If you’re looking for a moment of relaxation, you ca definitely have it in this fresh and healthy environment. Due to the abundance of wooden details, the place exhales unity: floors, ceilings, even the furniture – everything is made of wood. At a first glance, one could be tempted to say “too much is too much”, but at a closer look you will see that there’s nothing wrong with “wood excess”. The designer came up with an interesting solution for the bedrooms. You get either the view or… the hight. The attic accommodates compact beds and make the place look more spacious than it actually is. How do you feel about this “wood love” ambience?

Relaxed Atmosphere and Expansive Views Offered by Glen 2961 House in South Africa

SAOTA – Stefan Antoni Olmesdahl Truen Architects in collaboration with Three 14 Architects have completed the design for Glen 2961 House, a modern residence located in Cape Town, South Africa. According to the architects, the new house had to “respond to the site and garden closely, to allow enough space for the family’s diverse requirements – whilst create separate private spaces within the house, and respond to the fierce winds which seasonally hurtle down Table Mountain yet provide a relaxed, homely character“.

A perfect indoor/outdoor connection was achieved by the project team: “To amplify the sense of openness of the rooms and the gardens, the living rooms have large openings of sliding aluminum doors. The kitchen remains the focus of the first floor area, and the main outdoor terrace is a generous layout with outdoor sitting and dining areas. The upper level of the house – to which one approaches on arrival at the property – accommodates 4 en-suite bedrooms with good views and a large study / library area. The garage screens the courtyards from the street“. Seamlessly connecting to the garden and terraces, all the interiors exude freshness and energy-have a look!

Perpetual Holiday Atmosphere : La Luge Residence in Quebec

With winter approaching in Quebec, Canada, this contemporary cottage-like home designed by YH2 Architecture will soon seem sprung out of a fairytale. The La Luge residence is composed of two visually contrasting volumes, which merge, creating distinct spaces. Surrounded by a dense forest, the privacy of the inhabitants is ensured; moreover, this dreamy surrounding landscape makes it easy for anyone living here to enjoy a perpetual holiday atmosphere, away from the urban racket.

According to the architects, La Luge is a secondary home for the owners, especially developed to accommodate many guests. This means “the house’s spaces can be reconfigured into diverse geometries: using large sliding doors, the users may transform the children bedroom into a playground or a guest bedroom, more or less opened onto the main living spaces. La Luge integrates a private spa which occupies almost a third of the useable area, adding on to the traditional countryside living spaces.” Would you agree that this place is the ultimate winter retreat? If not, what do you believe it lacks?

Vivid Atmosphere In And Around This Unique Orange House

Located in Ankara, Turkey, the bold orange color displayed by this residence stands at the base of its name – the Orange House. Turkish studio Yazgan Design Architecture envisioned the house rising three stories in the air and composing a collection of spaces gathering views of the surrounding urban developments and the Middle East Technical University forest. The steep site occupied by the house was recreated to suit the inhabitant’s needs and wishes and offer them the best possible layout for daily activities. Displaying its beautiful details over as surface of 1,050 square meters, the orange residential construction made of steel is best described by its designers: “The program is based on the development of flexible relationships between diverse inputs of design, such as, materials, program elements, demands of users, dimensional requirements, site peculiarities, Ankara climate and its habitat, architects and engineers involved with the project.

The building is the product of a flexible-systematic process without losing the initial idea. The building design is based on surfaces that develop an exterior-interior space relation between autonomous rooms, and an initial diagram concerning the circulation connecting these rooms. All rooms reflect the specific needs of employers in their design. For instance, dining room is dimensioned with reference to the existing Persia carpet belonging to the users.” Glass and water features were combined to shape a striking outdoor display that unifies the design and participate in creating a fascinating residential property. Take a look at the photos to shape an idea of this home’s uniqueness and bold architectural statement.

Stone, Vaulted Ceilings and Genuine Atmosphere in an Inspiring Tel Aviv Home

Pitsou Kedem Architect completed a home restoration above the harbor in Old Jaffa, Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel. One could easily resemble its exterior with a medieval fortress, as inspired by its centuries-old facade. But the similarities stop there. When redesigning this home, the architects kept its mysterious stone exterior, but combined it with state of the art modern details. The overall result is a pleasant mix of old and new, making this residence truly stand out. Even though the total living surface of this project is only 105 square meters (1,130 sq ft), the overall feeling that the interiors inspire is that of space. This is due mainly to the vaulted ceilings and modern minimalist arrangements. The traditional stone walls were kept almost intact and the visual effect they provide is overwhelming. How would you personally define the atmosphere envisioned by the designers? Do you consider this place “homey”? [Photos by AMIT GERON PHOTOGRAPHY]

Complex Bar Design with an Inticing Atmosphere

Andy Martin Associates in collaboration with Farrow See and L+DG completed a complex design project in the shape of a fascinating bar. Presenting a series of original details, this is a place of privacy as well as for unlimited entertainment. Here is a short description from the project developers: “AMA conceived a serene black aluminium box to which were applied backlit Asian graphic treatments, such as abstract bamboo patterning to the walls and the Japanese Karesansui garden graphics to the ceilings overlaying the dining tables. This was achieved with the technological assistance of NES light panels in the UK, using side emitting LED technology“. The place features a well defined personality and its association to a “black box” is not accidental. Once in this unique looking bar, the rest of the world is symbolically and literally being shut out, and the customers are able to enjoy a private, inciting atmosphere. Ventless Fireplaces, an Innovative Way to Warm Up the Atmosphere
We’ve recently received an e-mail from Hearth Cabinet™, a fireplace company based in New York, showcasing their innovative Ventless Fireplace: According to the designers,” too often consumers mistakenly believe that they cannot have a fireplace because their home or apartment does not have a chimney or flue. “With Hearth Cabinet™, it is possible for any residence or commercial site to feature the warm glow of a real, crackling fire. The Hearth Cabinet™ is a ventless fireplace system that burns a patent pending alcohol fuel cartridge. You don’t need a gas line or a chimney and it does not use electricity. There is a real flame but there is no smoke. To light a fire you open the lock on the patent pending safety door, insert the cartridge into the holder and light it with a long match or BBQ lighter. You get a beautiful golden yellow fire without smoke that lasts about two hours. When the fire is out you can recycle the metal cartridge. The system comes with a snuffer plate so you can put the fire out at any time.”

The ventless fireplaces are said to be 100% safe and eco-friendly. They are available in traditional and contemporary standard modular designs that fit any style surround or mantel. For now, the company’s products have received approval in New York, but this idea definitely creates opportunities for more and more spaces to have access to a cozy room with a fireplace.
